Cerveza “El Faro de Portocolom” FESTBIER – First Edition

In 2020 – first Pandemic year – we released our first edition of legal beer. From our test batches which were brewed as home brewer we choose an everybody’s darling as our first one – a festbier. This style (Cat.4B at BJCP) is described as: “A smooth, clean, pale German lager with a moderately strong malty flavor and a light hop character. Deftly balances strength and drinkability, with a palate impression and finish that encourages drinking. Showcases elegant German malt flavors without becoming too heavy or filling.”

So we dedicated this beer to our village of Portocolom which is already since more than 10 years our home.

Description

EL FARO – The Festbier from Portocolom
Our Festbier “El Faro de Portocolom” is a fine, pure, light beer with a noticeable malt taste and a light hop character. It cleverly finds the middle ground between strength and drinkability with a taste impression on the palate and in the finish that encourages continued drinking. Mainly presents the fruitiness of the hops and the malt taste without becoming too heavy or fattening.
The medium-light bitterness is definitely malty. The fruitiness of the local hops is present in the aroma and taste.
Our festbier has a balanced body with a soft, slightly creamy texture, medium carbonation and an alcohol content that – if at all – is barely perceptible as warming.

Brewed with hops from Portocolom in Mallorca according to the German purity law.

Water, barley malt, hops, yeast

Alcohol: 5.8% vol.
Bitter: 30 IBU
Color: 9.3 EBC
Capacity: 330 ml
