Märzen
Märzen - Island Brew Mallorca
Classic Märzen with 5,5 % ABV - malt-driven, clean and well-balanced.
Our Märzen from Mallorca is a classic bottom-fermented lager with 5.5% ABV and around 14° Plato original gravity.
Malt-driven and harmonious, with a gentle hop bitterness, it presents itself as a well-balanced beer
brewed in the traditional style.
Märzen from Mallorca - traditionally brewed
Brewed with Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malt, complemented by Melanoidin and light caramel malt,
it develops a full-bodied character with a golden to amber colour.
Magnum is used as the bittering hop, while Spalter Select provides subtle aroma. At 21 IBU,
the bitterness remains pleasantly restrained, supporting the malt sweetness without overpowering it.
What defines a Märzen?
Märzen is a traditional bottom-fermented beer style originating from the German-speaking regions of Central Europe.
Typical characteristics include:
- higher original gravity (approx. 13 - 15 ºPlato)
- malt-forward character
- moderate bitterness
- extended cold lagering
Through extended cold conditioning, our Märzen develops its clear structure and elegant drinkability.
Although unfiltered, the long lagering period allows it to appear bright and clean in the glass.
